1st Regional Event on Cultural & Creative Industries in Apulia Region and Project Meeting
BARI, 17-18 February 2016

On February 17 and 18, 2016 SMART INNO partnership met in Bari, in the south of Italy for two important initiatives: the 1st Regional Event organized by Tecnopolis PST on Creative Industries in Apulia Region and the 6th Project Meeting which is strategic for assuring activity coordination among partners.

On Wednesday 17 February, in a wonderful “Salone degli Affreschi” of the main University Building of Bari, Tecnopolis PST organized from 9:00 to 13:00 a Conference on Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs) in Apulia Region in dialogue with other examples from Italy and other 7 Project Countries (Albania, Bosnia Herzegovina, Croatia, Greece, Montenegro, Slovenia, Serbia).

Mr. Somma, President of Tecnopolis PST,  introduced the first session and presented what the Governmental Bodies of Apulia Region, the Mayor of Bari and the University of Bari are actually doing for promoting the CCIs sector as a recognized and successfull driver of local territorial development.

After this session, the goals and activities of SMART INNO project have been presented by the Lead Partner, Province of Rimini and some Project Partners who are responsible of main technical activities: ERFC Team (from Greece) talked about all the efforts concerning the collection of data about Innovative initiatives at Partnership level and the Capitalization process set up on these best practices among local stakeholders of the area (public officers, intermediary organizations, local experts on R&I, etc.); then Friuli Innovazione Team (from Italy) presented the SMART INNO Adriatic Innovation Hub, the 1st platform which support a new entrepreneur or a start up to launch an Innovative idea in the Adriatic-Ioanian Macroregion by collecting all the needed information: Capacity & Competence building (thanks to Training opportunities), Networking initiatives, Financial tools for obtaining support and access to a the AI BAN, the Adriatic Ionian Business Angels Network. Last but not least, AULEDA Team (from Albani) showed the ongoing activities on Pilot Projects, designed and implemented by SMART INNO partners on Innovative services and poducts from Sustainable Tourism to Blue Growth, through Support to SMEs and development of Innovative Materials.

The core of the event was actually the Focus on Creative SMEs, led by Mr. Vincenzo Bellini, President of the Productive District “Puglia Creativa” as chairman of the third session.

Mr. Vito Albino of Politecnico of Bari, Mr. Gianluigi De Gennaro of University of Bari and Mr. Aldo Patruno, Director of the Tourism, Cultural Economy and territory valorization of Apulia Region exchanged their ideas on how the “Innovation actors” of Apulia Region are working on CCIs development, a very promising sector which is growing very fast in Apulia Region and can count on a lot of great examples of Cultural spin off and initiatives led by young entrepreneurs.

Indeed young testimonials presented their business ideas, delivering very interesting speeches on how they became, in a short time, cultural operators able to promote the territory, the history of their land and a t the same time offering new and unaspected products, services and networking ideas in the market which became successfull.

Also some SMART INNO partners (Friuli Innovazione, SI.PRO. from Italy and Primorska Technology Park from Slovenia) intervened by talking about the initiatives they are supporting on CCIs sector and fostering Innovation in their respective areas.

For the closure of the Regional Event, Mr. Claudio Polignano, Responsible for “Mediterranean Service” of Apulia Region, provided an interesting insight on current and future funds led by the European Union and Apulia Region tailored to CCIs sector.

The afternoon of February 17 was restricted to SMART INNO partners and devoted to activities on Pilot projects. A social dinner in a typical restaurant of  the historic city center of Bari closed the day.

On Thursday 18 February 2016 all partners moved to the premises of Tecnopolis PST in Valenzano, Bari for a morning dedicated to the 6th SMART INNO Project meeting, for a general overview and updates on activities, and the Steering Committee. Before leaving, Ms. Annamaria Annichiarico, General Director of Tecnopolis PST, organized a little tour around the technology park and the labs.

We take the chance to thank a lot Tecnopolis PST for the successfull organization of the Regional Event, to which more than 120 participants took part, as well as for the PM and hosting us in the very pleasant City of Bari.
